Why being a scientist at an University makes me happy

Doing basic research is a satisfying job, especially in the field of pharmaceutical sciences. Your results and findings can have an enormous impact in future disease therapies. And especially in underestimated fields the universities have the responsibility to conduct research even if it does not pay off immediately. But with the result of a basic research project some day we (or industry) will be able to start a drug discovery project and hopeful add again a disease to the list of treatable diseases.

But research is not the only thing I love spending my time at: It is also the teaching and supervising of young students and researcher. Being able to feed their curiosity and their enthusiasm is one of the best things of working at the university.
